Meditation Fights Cancer and Promotes Longevity

Article by Isaac Eliaz

Calmly meditating produces exciting, beneficial effects on your body. It can protect your DNA against cancer-promoting genetic developments and free you from everyday stresses and distractions. That’s why meditation is one of the most powerful, but often neglected, tools for maintaining optimal health.

Physical VitalityMost of us don’t think of meditation as being important in maintaining physical vitality. We know that healthy diet, proper supplementation, regular exercise, and a positive social support system are important for our health on all levels — physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. However, despite these healthy habits, many of us still struggle with managing our stress levels. Science is proving over and over that chronic stress can be deadly, contributing to our most serious health conditions.

This direct mind-body connection is something that Eastern philosophies have taught for millennia, and recent research has supplied us with a revealing new technical perspective. Clinical studies demonstrate that chronic stress may have a profound effect on our DNA by shortening our DNA telomeres. Telomere deterioration puts us at higher risk of developing cancer and other harmful conditions. The good news: There’s an ancient and well-known mind-body practice which is now proving successful in physically repairing this telomere DNA damage, while restoring peace of mind at the same time. What is this practice? Simple meditation.

What Are Telomeres? Our genes are located on twisted, double-stranded molecules of DNA called chromosomes. At the ends of the chromosomes are stretches of DNA called telomeres. These are essentially caps that protect our genetic data, allow for cells to divide properly and reflect how we age. Similar to the plastic covers on the ends of shoelaces, telomeres protect chromosomes from fraying due to aging, poor health and environmental influences. Telomeres are shortened every time the cells divide; and when they become too short, the cells are not able to divide properly. While researchers are already aware that telomeres shorten and deteriorate with aging, new studies demonstrate that chronic stress also contributes to their reduction. Further research shows that as telomeres shrink, cancer risk grows.

Meditation Protects TelomeresThe inevitable wear and tear of your telomeres cannot be halted altogether, but it can certainly be delayed and even reversed through the activation of a key enzyme called telomerase. Telomerase protects the ends of telomeres from weakening and fraying. So how do you reap the benefits of this super-charged enzyme? Studies show that psychological changes associated with regular meditation improve your ability to cope with stress and contribute to increased telomerase activity.

Simple Practice for BeginnersIf you’re not sure how to begin meditating, studies show that even just 10 minutes a day can provide significant mental, emotional and physical health benefits. Here’s a simple technique to get you started: Simply sit quietly and focus your attention, as well as your breathing, on a particular object such as a small stone. As thoughts and emotions arise, simply acknowledge and release them, bringing your attention back to your breath. As your practice unfolds, you may find that there is more and more space between your internal monologues, allowing for a sense of openness and freedom from everyday stresses and distractions. This is where the meditation and healing process truly begins. Initially, you should notice tangible benefits like better mental focus, improved emotional balance and increased energy.

How To Meditate – Meditation Techniques For Beginners

Article by Oliver Dodd

Meditation has different meaning for every person. For some of them it is simply clearing the mind and relaxing the body which gives you the feeling of peace and quiet that you need. During this process you create a pleasurable state of being and it is a way of escaping from the reality around you. For other people it means an extraordinary experience of alter state of reality. Basically, the meditation is a tool, used to cure sicknesses which exist only in our mind. But let’s follow some simple steps to get to the feeling of happiness and pleasure:

Step 1: The first most important thing is having a good posture which has to be very comfortable and stable. There are two types of meditation – the first one is used by most people and it is meditating on the floor. The second – not so popular type – is meditating on while you are sitting on a chair. You can meditate on any place wherever you feel comfortable. All you need to do is to sit comfortably and cross your legs. After that you have to cross your fingers in front of your body. When you cross your legs and fingers, you create an energy circle around you which gives you more stability.

Step 2: You have to free your mind in order to be completely relaxed. Eyes are the doors of the mind so they should be closed.

Step 3: Use your chakras. The chakras are a powerful tool which you can use as an inner visual. You need it in order to concentrate and use the energy flows in your body. Basically, there are seven chakras in the body which are energetic points within the body. The first one is placed down in the base of the spine which is called “the red root” chakra. The second chakra is orange and it is placed below your stomach. The third one is in the stomach and it is yellow. The chakras follow the colors of the rainbow. The next chakra is in the heart and it is green. The blue chakra is in the throat and the indigo chakra is in the third eye point. The last chakra is the “crown” chakra and it is placed on the top of the head and it has a white color. If you want to feel relaxed, you have to use all these chakras.

Step 4: Start inhaling and exhaling very slow. Focus on every separate chakra from your body. Imagine how this part of the body look like. Look how beautiful they are and spend enough time for each of them. Feel how the rainbow colors fill your body and get you at peace.

Step 5: Keep that position for at least 15 – 20 minutes a day in order to be healthier and happier than before.

Practicing meditation has many advantages:

First of all, after meditating you feel you are at peace with everything inside and outside your body and you keep that feeling for the entire day. No matter what happens throughout the day, you will be relieved. You will lower the level of stress which will reflect on the attitude towards the other people and you will have better personal relationships.

Second, this is an excellent way to control your emotions. If you get angry or annoyed, or if you feel ashamed, you need to spend just a couple of minutes inhaling and exhaling, concentrating on your breath, and you will feel better. Using that technique will prevent you from saying things you will be sorry about.

Third, having a mind at peace equals to living healthier. Most diseases are caused by too much stress and worries. For some people the meditating leads them to the feeling of being closer to God or the so called “nirvana”. This simple techniques help you overcome your animal nature and build your life to a next higher level. You go over the body consciousness which is the main source for suffering of the body. All the unhealthy thoughts and troubles reflect on the body’s condition.

All in all, meditating makes you stronger and healthier person with better personal and professional relationships, who lives healthier life.

There are numerous reasons why people reflect. Some people say the item gives them a more restful mind. That’s accurate. Others will tell you commemorate the mind really razor-sharp and creative, so you can achieve more things. This is especially true.

Want to increase your Reasoning powers? Meditate. Want to be a lot more creative? Meditate. Strive to be a more peaceful human being? Meditate.

All these are just some benefits of meditation, however are really only by-products: something which comes automatically because you strive for a higher aim. There are much deeper reasons to learn Simple Meditation.

Expand your spine, unwind your shoulders, place both your hands at your thighs and keep your chin straight. In a few moments later on, I’m going to ask you to close your eyes, and you are gonna focus on your breaths.

As you inhale, spot your focus in the tip of your nostrils, as you feel every one of the cold air speed into your nostrils and down into your bronchi, and as you exhale, feel all the heated air from your lungs in addition to out to your nasal passages.

When you do that, rely in your head, “One”; take your time, breathe in and out, and count, “Two”. Do this until you count right up until Ten.

So, shut your eyes slowly currently and just do this emphasis meditation and count from one till 10.

Awareness Meditation – Simple Exercise

Awareness Meditation – Simple Exercise

Mindfulness meditation is all about being aware and being present. In our daily life, we quite often operate on autopilot, which means that we are living inside our own thoughts and therefore not aware of what is going on in our environment. You have most certainly tried walking or taking the bus to work, school or someplace else, and do not really remember the details of how you ended up at the wanted destination. You did not pay attention to your surroundings. This can be a calming experience of taking a mental break from your life and just focus on your thoughts, but it also means that you may not be able to see possible opportunities there may come your way, and you may therefore miss out of something significant.

In mindful meditation you will learn to be attentive and focus only on your inhalations and exhalations and the many sensation connected to it. You will also have to remember to only focus on NOW and not on the past or the future. You should be present in this particular second. So try this step-by-step mindfulness technique to help you become present.

Mindful Meditation Exercise

Step 1Choose a quiet location where you can perform your meditation and a time where you are certain nothing will interrupt you when you meditate. Practice this mindfulness meditation for 10 to 20 minutes. Pick a meditation position that you are comfortable with and take a short time to settle your mind and body before beginning the exercise.

Step 2Close your eyes and become aware of your inhalations and exhalations. Unlike the majority of other types of meditation exercises, you will not alter your breathing or breathe consciously. You should instead observe your breathing. Focus on your inhaling and exhaling and the way the air fills your body and expand your stomach and chest. Be aware of the sensations in your body like the temperature of the air and the feelings in your body. Acknowledge these sensations but do not judge them in any way. You will only passively watch the situation.

Step 3Remember to only focus on the present, and on the breath that you are taking in this very moment and the way it feels now. And when you exhale, you will stop to think about that breath but instead on the breath that you are inhaling this instant. You also have to remember to calm your mind and body while meditating. Try to be still and allow your mind to be calm and just enjoy the moment of serenity.

When you finished with your meditation and feel like you are ready to end this mindful meditation, calmly open your eyes and take a energizing cleansing breath.

Mindfulness meditation is a quite good technique for relaxation and it helps you to still your mind and body in a very fast way. So if you feel like you need to find a way to relax and reduce stress and anger in your life, you should work with mindfulness meditation. There are so many great benefits with meditation and it can help you improve your life mentally physically and spiritually. It can give you a feeling of calmness and control and make you feel much more balanced and centered. Beside this type of meditation there are other great relaxation meditation techniques such as Imagery Technique, Body Scan, Breathing Exercise, Grounding Exercise, and so much more.
