Personal Life Improvement through Meditation

Article by Issachar Bey

When a person can regulate their sources of spirituality, it brings them great pleasure. Since we all are different in nature, spirituality differs for most of us as well. The goal behind finding your spirituality is incurring a need to reach beyond to connect with your spiritual side. Whatever you find should make you feel good about you. What you find should be utilized in your journey to spirituality, helping you to develop and grow in your individuality.

We all know that prayers are powerful tools that affect attitudes. Prayers are often said on one’s behalf, or for people we know. According to few philosophers who study spirituality, each day we pray we should work in accord with that prayer. Meditation is a form of getting in touch with you, which is similar to prayer. When you pray you often, feel calm. You will feel a soothing touch graze over you. Like prayer, meditation brings us closer to who we are. You can improve your life through prayer and mediation.

How do I meditate? First, keep in mind that mediation is a tool that coordinates our senses, thoughts, body, and so on. The notion is to help us relax. As we relax and attempt to meditate, we gain control over our minds, thoughts and so forth. We learn to focus on our goals. We get a sense of spirituality through meditation. The notion helps us to feel energy. Once our energy is lifted, which helps us to deal with life and people more calmly. You will need to follow basics steps to learn how you can focus on what you intend to accomplish from meditation. When you start to meditate, you must realize that at first it will be difficult. At least for most: Meditation is the process or removing all thoughts from your mind for a short time and then allowing the mind to focus. Sometimes your mind my wander or ramble on, which you should allow. Once the thoughts feel a sense of relief, then you can move to meditate.

How to being: As you begin to meditate, start by finding a snug position. You want the body to sit upright in your relaxed spot. Your back should be upright and aligned. Once you are relaxed, use the hands to bear your body weight. Now take a deep breath and breathe in the air, inhaling it into your lungs. Now hold and release. Relax again continuing your position. When you learn to focus on your breathing and how to take deep breathes, it helps you to remove unwarranted stress.

When you learn to meditate, it helps you to find peace within, since your thoughts will gradually quiet. Meditation helps you to clear up clutter. Once you feel that sense of serenity, you will have affirmed your mind. This helps you to pay hold firm to what you intend to accomplish.

One must practice daily to meditate. Practice helps a person gain control over their thoughts. As you continue your journey through meditation, you may find areas of disturbance. In some instances, your mind may wander backwards to memories you do not like. Allow room to accept your discomforts and the thoughts to freely come forward. Remember, you lived it once, how can it harm you again? While you meditate you, do not want to force any actions or thoughts on your mind and body. Allow room for freedom. Once you completed your meditation, say a little prayer for those people suffering in the world. This will make room for added comfort.

Mindfulness Meditation – How to Navigate Through Your Own Personal Minefield

Article by Richard M. Frost

Bad experiences sometimes leave deep wounds on our psyche – scars that take a long time to heal. While time generally does heal most wounds, we don’t do ourselves any favors by going back and picking at them. In fact, replaying bad experiences over again in your mind is a recipe for disaster, for the negative thoughts and emotions that were buried can be brought back to life with explosively destructive force, just like a landmine buried long ago in a forgotten war. The cultivation of greater mindfulness, however, can help us navigate through this personal minefield, alerting us whenever we get too close to danger.

Where Are Your Mines Buried?

Some of us do a better job than others of just going with the flow of life, and not spending too much time looking back with regret, recrimination, or guilt, to name just a few of the toxic emotions that can accompany our memories. But for almost all of us, there have been some particularly painful moments along the way, and these are the landmines that we must map out and stay away from, lest we unleash a damaging flow of thoughts and emotions. The emotions associated with past traumas don’t just make us miserable; they also have creative (which in this case means destructive) potential, transforming the events that transpire in our outer reality as well as the inner landscape which can often be bad enough by itself.

What sort of events have you buried?

* An argument with a co-worker or family member? * An accident that you caused? * The death of a loved one or pet? * Rejection by an object of your affection? * Getting fired from a job? * Failing a test at school? * Saying something that hurt someone else’s feelings? * Betraying a friend’s confidence? * A period of severe poverty and insecurity? * The time other people abused you verbally or physically?

Obviously, the list is endless. There’s a pretty good chance that you’re working on something in your own list right now. Our inherent “negativity bias” is almost irresistible, constantly drawing us back to the worst memories and the most negative expectations for the future. That sort of thinking once made sense in an earlier evolutionary environment, where the avoidance of real threats to our survival was paramount, but in today’s generally much safer world, this default “doom and gloom” setting does us no favors at all.

Awareness of the Danger Will Protect You

While conventional mindfulness practices, which teach us to be aware of what we’re doing, moment-to-moment, with our minds, can tell us when we’re dwelling on negative memories, they don’t do nearly enough to inform us about the very real danger of this type of thinking. Buddhist mindfulness does not embrace the much more modern New Age concept that we create our physical realities with our thoughts and emotions, and simply confines itself to inner reality.

While there is undoubtedly real benefit to be derived from a more harmonious inner life, the real danger we must avoid is the physical manifestation of our negative thoughts and feelings. This danger is very real, and the power of our most upsetting memories is particularly likely to expose us to harmful manifestations. For unlike the positive manifestation goals so beloved of self-help authors like Rhonda Byrne, we know exactly what these bad experiences feel like and we can remember every little painful detail in technicolor glory. In short, it’s much, much easier to create bad realities than good ones, and we have to police ourselves constantly to protect ourselves from these self-inflicted wounds.

So the next time you catch yourself dwelling upon the worst events of your past, just stop. No matter how justified you feel you are in rehashing that event, you must remind yourself of the power of your thoughts and emotions. A simple way to manage yourself is to ask whether you want to relive that experience – or something very similar to it – again. Because if you don’t watch out, that is exactly what will happen.

When replaying past events, one of the most damaging thought patterns we must avoid is that of self-blame. Critics of the New Age use that issue as an argument against the reality-creation principle, but it is – ironically – a strong argument in favor of New Age ideas. The Key Benefits of Meditation: My Personal Meditation Journey

Article by Dr. Robert Puff, Ph.D.

When you meditate, the key is to focus on your breath because that is the only thing happening right here, right now. You may have a mantra or prayer word; you may visualize or use a guided meditation; but the key to any meditation is to be in the here and now.

Our mind typically centers on the past and the future. As we meditate, the mind quiets down and begins to focus on one thing only: the present. Right here in the now, there are no concepts, no fears, and no problems to worry about. Fears and worries come when our minds are working, going from the past to the future, thinking about what has been and what could be. When we make our minds quiet and be in moment, fears and worries go away. That’s one of the beautiful things about meditation: it frees us from the concepts and thought structures we have created that cause anxiety in the mind. It gives a respite from worry and our burdens of the day.

Besides meditating your worries and fears away, you can practice being in the present all the time. If you are in the here and now during daily activity, you are just thinking about and focusing on the one thing you are doing at that moment. You’re keeping the thoughts of the past and future from entering your mind. If you get up and wash the dishes, you simply wash the dishes; if you sit down to write someone an email, you just concentrate on writing that e-mail. Of course, during these times, other thoughts will arise, but meditative living involves getting back to being present with what is and focusing on that and nothing more.

Some people think that if you keep pushing random thoughts and anxieties aside and ignoring them, you won’t get anything accomplished, but the opposite is true. Highly successful people are able to get lots done while “working in the zone.” I talk about this more in depth in my book/ebook Success Beyond Your Imagination: Working in the Zone.

The message I’m trying to get across is that we must be present in whatever it is that we are doing right now. For example, if you are a surgeon and you are in surgery, you concentrate and are one-hundred-percent present with your surgical instruments, patient, and procedure. If you are a police officer and other people’s lives are in your hands, you must be totally present in what you are doing, or people could die. Of course, not all of us have such heavy responsibilities and lives that are as demanding of focus. This is why we often allow our minds to wander and not be present with what’s happening right now. Just as in meditation we return to the thing we’re focusing on (such as our breath), so, too, in everyday life when the mind wanders or when worry overtakes us, we should just go back to what’s happening right now. Don’t get upset that you’ve allowed your mind to stray, but instead come back to focusing on the present moment. Keeping those thoughts of the past and future from entering into the present will keep fears and anxieties from stressing your life.

My Personal Journey Into The World of Meditation

Post by Dr. Robert Puff, Ph.D.

I started meditating in my late teens soon after I was uncovered to the investigation of Herbert Benson, who wrote the e-book The Rest Reaction. It was a fantastic examine into how men and women meditate and the rewards of meditation. It was standard but very useful. It obtained me interested in both practicing and researching meditation.

Whilst I located meditation comforting after performing it a short whilst, it wasn’t usually straightforward to do, and I was not always motivated to do it. I meditated frequently, but not often. I did it simply because I recognized the health-related positive aspects. I realized it was very good for me, very good for my heart. Dr. Benson talks a lot about the health care benefits of meditation.

Over the many years, as I pursued my degrees in psychology, I studied diverse forms of meditation, experimented with diverse practices, and genuinely began to get pleasure from the effects. I meditated periodically. I would at times consider breaks from it but I would usually come again. I explored diverse types, distinct traditions, and produced my interest and enjoy of meditation.

I think the tipping point was when an individual arrived to me for help and suggestions. This person, whom I respected, was intensely spiritual, and shared with me the view that meditation was 1 of the foundational resources of private expansion. “If you actually want to expand, meditation is really the crucial equally spiritually and psychologically,” this shopper mentioned. So I began to explore meditation from that perspective and located the remark to be genuine. Since I was passionate about growth, I made the decision to truly dive into meditation. Even though I had spent many years academically, professionally, and in my non-public endeavors researching personal development, I had not deeply studied the spiritual, meditative strategies of growth.

At that point in my existence, I came to realize that learning psychology had taken me a lengthy way in my personal personalized advancement, but that it could only get me so far. Meditation could just take me to my aim of becoming a happy, total man or woman on a consistent foundation. So I had in fact discovered from somebody I was counseling that meditation was the main way to increase in all aspects of my daily life.

Even though I had all these degrees and training which assisted me develop exceptional capabilities in dealing with my stresses, anxieties, and psychological issues, I even now hadn’t accomplished the objective of reaching my complete potential as a complete, healthy human becoming. I required to severely utilize meditation to really reach this objective in my life. In the East, they contact it “enlightenment” in the West, some writers phone it “awakening,” and psychologists refer to it as “self-actualization.”

What regular, regular meditation started to do for me was aid me get in touch – on a consistent, regular foundation – with who I am, why I’m right here, and my oneness with almost everything around me. Psychology and the health-related globe had taught me good equipment for purposeful dwelling, but hadn’t taught me how to reside. Meditation has taught me how to are living completely, how to live in the existing, and how to savor every minute.

There was one closing lesson I necessary to learn. Despite the fact that I had turn out to be very good at meditating and was really relaxed and peaceful on the meditative mat, when I left the mat my brain continued to chatter. I realized I failed to have to depart that meditative state when I left the mat. I could go through my day, continuing in my meditative state of currently being at peace, being at a single. Although the mind chatter is nonetheless there, I’ve learned how to acknowledge it, witness it, and not be distracted by it. I’ve realized how to stay in the now, how to be present with what is.

1 of the alterations that has occur alongside by way of my meditating is that I call for less sleep. I usually go on a few to six several hours a day now. Like most men and women, I used to need six to 8 several hours of slumber to perform. Also, throughout my meditations often I have very “mystical” experiences in which it can be amazingly magical and I am 1 with the universe. I’ve discovered not to attach myself to these encounters I don’t assume them, but sometimes they come and are powerful and satisfying past words. I’ve turn out to be one with myself and at peace.

If you want to be the most completely practical human becoming you can be, meditation is the way to attain this. If development and spirituality are crucial to you, meditation is the software to acquiring there. We all can experience the joys, wonders, and amazing peace that really surpasses all knowing, with normal meditation.
