Christian Meditation. Sacred Silence.

Write-up by David G Wilcox

Are you a Christian who would like to know how to enjoy the rewards of meditation, but are frightened to try it because you feel it is not suitable with Christianity? If so would you like to see what the gospels have to say on the topic?

But when you pray, go into your place, near the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in top secret, will reward you (Matthew 6:6)

There is a basic mistrust of meditation by Christians. This stems from the fact that meditation is seen by a lot of Christians to be an occult apply, and there is no question that it is practiced by occultists. However, the gospels point out that Jesus practiced meditation, and as the passage over factors out, Jesus encouraged his followers to meditate as effectively.

How does Jesus encourage his followers to meditate? The passage provides three simple measures.

Action A single: Go Into Your Area. This Signifies Have an Open up and Receptive Heart.

Jesus did not indicate practically go into a room. Most folks who lived in the course of Jesus’ time lived in open houses with a single place, shared with a lot of individuals. Jesus was talking symbolically. The place is the human heart, the seat of intuition, need, and emotion. Jesus is telling us that the 1st step is to have an open up and receptive heart, to believe and expect that God can be identified via instinct, and feeling. This will take believe in, but this believe in is not misplaced and in simple fact it is the only way that you can see the Father, who is unseen.

Phase Two: Close the Door. This Signifies Silence the Goal Mind.

The objective brain wants to be silenced. There is absolutely nothing mistaken with our goal thoughts, and in fact it has an critical purpose to play. Even so, it will get in the way for the duration of prayer and meditation, because it continually chatters, judges, and tries to maintain us completely focused on the existence of the senses. Praying to the Father indicates opening ourselves up to a increased brain and communing with it on its phrases. We should close the door on our goal head and the encounters of the senses, and open our hearts and minds to one more truth.

Step Three: Wait For The Father.

If you approach meditation with an open up brain and heart, and are ready to efficiently silence your goal brain, then you will be all set to commune with the universal brain, which Jesus calls the Father. Jesus tells us the Father will see us in secret (that is whilst the objective mind is peaceful) and will reward us with His presence. At this position, you will be creating a romantic relationship with the universal larger thoughts through immediate get in touch with with your mind and heart. And at this point transformation becomes probable.

As you can see, Jesus presents a technique of meditation which is efficient for communing with God. There is no question that as a Christian, if you adhere to these actions, you will meet God in the silence of your heart and mind.
