False Prophets and Christianity

Article by Pete SEN Stockton

‘Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.’ Matthew 7:15 ESVThe world has its fair share of false teachers.I was watching a TV documentary the other day about the abundance of false doctors and other specialists especially in rural countries. In areas where modern technology has yet to make it presence felt, up in the mountains, false doctors go about their day prescribing fake symptoms and medication to the local townsfolk. And they get paid for it. Sometimes there are even false teachers in these areas who teach the poor little kids all the wrong things.Christianity is no stranger to false teachers, but they have a better term for it – false prophets. Let’s dig a little deeper into the world of false prophets and their effect on the Christian religion. Most people these days don’t even believe in false prophets anymore. This is the modern world we’re living in, these are no longer the hectic and dangerous times described in the Bible. But truth is, more and more false prophets have come out of the wilds to drive people away from God’s rightful path. You see them everyday. How about those Church leaders who talk about the Words of God 10 hours a week in front of their people, but then gets caught in an adultery scandal? Or how about that homeless woman who claims herself to be a prophet of God, but has a record for mugging people when she’s cornered them out of site?Remember this quotation,”My dear brothers, never forget, when you hear the progress of enlightenment vaunted, that the devil’s best trick is to persuade you that he doesn’t exist!””Le Joueur généreux,” pub. February 7, 1864; translation by Cat Nilan, 1999.Satan is the fallen angel, and he is hell bent in swaying Mankind, God’s creation that resembled His likeness, to his favor. What better way to do just that than to send out his minions in disguise and proclaim themselves as prophets of God?If ordinary men see them as their fellow human beings, they are less likely to associate their intentions with the devil. This is what false prophets are and Satan is using them to further his own evil goals.’Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.’ 1 Peter 5:8 ESVSo how does a modern Christian steer clear of these false prophets? Simple. Turn to God’s words and teachings, the Bible. If you invest time to read and contemplate the Bible a few minutes each day, there’s no way false prophets would be able to break through your faith. The Bible is all you need, if you think about it, to be guided back towards God’s Kingdom, which is why Scripture memorization goes a long way into solidifying your Christian faith.Read and meditate the Bible verses as much as you can, at least five to ten minutes every day. If you can do this, you won’t have a problem with false prophets for the rest of your life.

Meditation Techniques for Beginners

Article by Rickyponting

Anyway, using body movements to release the tension of the body/mind is an absolute ‘must’ for many people these days, as we tend to be bombarded by and absorb so much information that the body itself needs to release this in order to be not only happy in stillness but also willing and able to let its energy participate creatively in anything we might want to do. Take notice to the times where your desire to continue to meditate begin to wane. These are the times when you need meditation the most! If you find that it’s getting difficult for you to continue meditating, chances are, you’re having difficulties focusing on the benefits of meditating. And guess what’s a great remedy for lack of focus?

On a continuous basis, you must strive for excellence in every area of your life, while still getting the rest and recreation you need to survive, to truly enjoy that life. And by making time in your busy schedule for yoga and meditation, you will approach every life situation with a clear, relaxed mind and rejuvenated psyche. Many people say that in order to meditate properly, you need to empty your mind of all thought. While this may sound good when the instructions are given, many depressed individuals will simply gravitate to unhappy or disturbing thoughts. Instead of emptying your mind of all thought, concentrate on something that is either relaxing or upbuilding, allowing it to force all other thoughts out of your mind.

You are becoming aware of your inner loving feelings in the vicinity of your heart – perhaps a warm feeling, or a glow, a colour, vibration, or sound. Above your head is an enormous vibrant light source, which if you wish, you may perceive as the light and love of God, or a universal energy, shining down strongly but gently intermingling with your own inner love. I personally love lying down when I do the work. I find it more relaxing, and am able to let go of the thoughts more easily. However, I suggest avoiding the bed or the couch. A mat on the floor is better for the body, and allows for perfect chakra alignment. When affirming, or visualizing, or using other techniques, the bed or couch is fine.

When you meditate, you have to learn a certain, predetermined set of Buddhist meditation techniques. These include physical positions, breathing techniques, Buddhist-based theories, and specific means of visualization and relaxation. These different techniques vary greatly in terms of difficulty, time requirements, desired and produced effects, etc. In addition, attendance at a Buddhist meditation retreat is in essence a form of insurance. You will be surrounded by a group of teachers and practitioners who share your commitment to the meditative process. These are dedicated, disciplined people who inspire you to stay the course. They will not allow you to stray from the precepts that are so very vital to the cause of successful meditation.

There is no reason other than mankind resists all the signs and hints and messages that are being made available to us in this particular time on the planet. Perhaps you believe this can even be true, somewhere deep inside.

How to Practice Mindfulness Meditation

Article by Kip Mazuy

Mindfulness meditation is about opening yourself up to what is here in this moment. You become aware of what is here without trying to change it in any way.

It is best to try mindfulness meditation first with your eyes closed so that you do not get distracted by anything outwardly happening.

Now with your eyes closed, simply relax into this moment. Allow everything to happen as it is happening. Allow breathing to happen exactly as it wants to happen. Allow the emotions to be as they are. Allow yourself to feel whatever sensations happen to present themselves. And even allow the thoughts to arise and fall all on their own.

Mindfulness meditation is the opposite of concentration; it is allowing everything to be as it is, while remaining the witness as much as possible. You are letting go of control. You are letting go of analysis

To the best of your ability, try not to get caught up in your thinking. Just notice that thinking is happening. The content of the thoughts is not important. Just leave it as noticing thoughts happening. Allow the thoughts to come and go in the same way you can watch cars drive past you on the road; they come and go all on their own, while you remain watching.

In mindfulness meditation, you are not even thinking the thoughts, you see thoughts are happening. You do not need to be involved whatsoever, thoughts simply arise and disappear.

Yes, you will get caught up in your thinking. But when you do, just notice that you did and come back to allowing and watching the thinking. It is not a forceful concentrated action, rather it is a letting go of the thinking, letting go of your involvement with your thinking.

The key in mindfulness meditation is relaxation, letting go, allowing and observing. In this way, thoughts can slow down by themselves and then you rest more and more into that which is here beyond the thinking, beyond the emotions and even beyond the physical body.

You relax into the sensation of simply being. Not being a something, because that is just more thinking, but rather the feeling of being alive in this moment, the sensation of existing in this moment beyond name and form.

Beyond your thinking in this moment, there is a feeling that you exist, a feeling that existence is happening. And the nature of this feeling is unconditional peace. The very essence of what you are in this moment is peace.

You do not need to seek out this feeling of being, it is what is left when you let go of the thinking.

So it is just about relaxing into this moment, allowing everything to be as it is and watching, witnessing, without control and without concentration.

Because you are so used to being involved with your thinking, mindfulness meditation can be a bit hard at first. The eastern secret to making meditation easy is to sit with one who has already mastered deep states of meditation. Simply by sitting in the presence of a fully enlightened meditation teacher, you naturally awaken into deep mindful meditation and bliss.

This same “enlightened presence” that you receive from sitting with an enlightened meditation teacher can also be received by listening to some very unique meditation music. Simply by listening to the music, you effortlessly and naturally enter into deep states of meditation and peace.

Namaste:) Yoga is approximately 5000 years old and it is the best physical, mental and spiritual exercise ever.

Yoga (yuj) means “to control,” “to yoke”, “to unite”, “joining,” “uniting,” “union,” “conjunction,” and “means.” You will get all the benefits from this awesome exercise as soon as you start practicing. Let me share the top yoga tips with you first:

1. Learn the Benefits of Yoga: Yoga improves balance, stamina, strength, and flexibility; reduces stress and anxiety quickly.

2. Choose a yoga style: The major branches of yoga are Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Juana Yoga, Bhaki Yoga, and Raja Yoga. Choose a style that matches your fitness level, personality, and health condition.

3. Drinking and Eating: Yoga is best done on an empty stomach. If possible, do not eat anything for two hours before your yoga workout.

4. Yoga Instruction: Yoga for a beginner should be done under the supervision of an experienced teacher. A skilled teacher will make corrections to postures (asanas) so you won’t injure yourself and can also offer modifications if you have any physical restrictions.

5. Where to Practice Yoga: The ideal yoga setting should be well ventilated, naturally lit, and free from distractions. You can find beginner yoga classes at many studios and gyms. Most of the time initial classes are free, so you can try different classes to see which ones you like best.

6. Beginners Yoga Kit: Before starting class, you may want to get a beginner yoga kit, which has a sticky mat, a strap, and one or two yoga blocks, a yoga video.

7. Breathing: Beginning yoga students should breathe correctly during the postures. Breathe in and out through your nose in order to breathe more deeply. Breathing helps you get relaxed and it also helps you move more deeply into the poses. If you find that you cannot breathe deeply or begin to feel tension in your body, either ease up or come out of the pose.

Why Do People Meditate?

Meditation usually refers to a state in which the body is consciously relaxed and the mind is allowed to become calm and focused. Most of the more popular systems of meditation are of Eastern origin, though there exists also various forms of Christian, Jewish and Muslim meditation.
