Using Full Chakra Meditation Techniques : grounding meditation

This is a full-on visualization, and with chakra, the benefits of meditation should leave you feeling highly energized. Sitting comfortably, close your eyes and start to focus in on your breathing.

When you are feeling calm and centered, begin to visualize a lustrous ruby chakra spinning at the base of your torso. You may find that what you see in your mind’s eye is not a perfect red – don’t worry.

Imagine this chakra for as long as you like, then move on to the sacral chakra. Do the same with each one, moving up the body and finishing with the crown chakra. Try to visualize each spinning freely. You may find that the chakras you imagine are rough or wobbly. Try getting them to run smoothly. Let your mind’s eye repair them.

After you have finished visualizing the crown chakra, try imagining all of your chakras spinning at once.

Imagine a clean current of violet light snaking down through your chakras from above the crown and straight into the ground.

Let any negative energy out through the root chakra. Feel positive energy coming in through your crown chakra.

When you are ready, open your eyes. You should feel fully relaxed and highly energized at the same time.

Now it’s time for grounding – this will help bring you back to earth and able to use that extra energy you just built up in your normal life. Choose the method that most suits you.

A Mosque at ground zero? : grounding meditation

President Obama’s recent approval for the construction of the Cordoba Centre, an Islamic centre and Mosque near the site of the September 11 attack on the twin tower attack has quite understandably raked up a huge controversy. The President claims to have based his approval on the basic principle of religious freedom, as according to him there is no reason why Muslims should be denied the right to build a place of worship at the given location. The move is being strongly opposed by many including retired FDNY Deputy Chief Al Santora father of Christopher the youngest victim of 9/11 who see this as an insult to all those who lost their lives in the ghastly terrorist attack. Supporters of the Cordoba centre however feel that a Mosque near the site of attack would be a testimony to America’s liberal credentials and the free spirit of New Yorkers in particular. They argue that any steps by the government to stop the construction of the mosque could give it an image of being bigoted and intolerant to Islam and push moderate Muslims into the fold of religious fanatics and extremists. Detractors of the Mosque however feel that establishing an Islamic centre including a Mosque would be seen as a victory by the same groups that planned and carried out the attack on the twin towers and give them a sense of jubilation, they also feel that Imam Feisal Al Rauf who is heading the initiative is not above board. Supporters of the Mosque however hold the view that the entire Muslim community cannot be blamed or held responsible for what a handful of terrorists did and the American public should not let itself be swayed by politicians who are trying to make an issue of the proposed Mosque and divide the people on religious lines. The controversy rages on…

While much can be argued in favour of and against both sides, we feel that the right thing that a government which wants to project itself as being neutral and non-religious would be to encourage the construction of a ‘Peace memorial’ near the site of the 9/11 attack where visitors could spend a minute in silent homage to the victims, meditate or just go around the place. This would be better than building a Church, Mosque or any other place of worship and would also help the government steer clear of any controversy.

A Guide to Meditation : grounding meditation

Meditation is about learning to become present in the moment. Being present in your life and having a calm mind are essential to optimal health. A quiet mind however is not something all of us can make happen automatically. If you’ve never taken the time to meditate or perhaps you are struggling with meditation here are some ways to improve upon this in your life.

The very first and most important thing is to listen and tap into your breathing. Breathe however you feel most comfortable but make sure you are taking deep and full breaths. This will help you to stay in the moment and clear your mind of distractions. A lot of people believe that meditation is about leaving your body, but in actuality it’s about getting into your body and the space between your thoughts and your body. Everything is connected to everything else.

There’s a lot of question as to how much and how long to meditate for. It’s better to set yourself up in the habit to meditate rather than to overdo it some days and not enough on others. If you set yourself up to meditate when you wake up in the morning or whenever works best for you, try and set out to do it every day. When you set up a time to meditate choose a length of time that works for you such as 10 or 15 minutes and gradually work up to an hour or even an hour and a half. The more of a habit this becomes the easier your mind will be able to shut down.

Clear your mind. Take a few minutes before beginning your mediation to think about everything you have going on in your head. Write it down in a journal or electronically, but take five to ten minutes to let yourself work out everything that is distracting you. Let your stream of consciousness flow out. You’ll be much more effective when you let your mind deal with everything that is going on. When you have thoughts of the past and future crowding your mind, you lose the power of intention and your goal of awareness.

A final note, you do not need to bend like a pretzel or be a yoga master in order to position yourself for meditation. The best position is to sit in a chair comfortably. Place your feel on the ground and do not cross your arms or legs, just place your hands open on top of your legs. Sit upright and make sure that you have support for your back. Do not sit or lie down in a place where you may typically relax or sleep as you may drift off to sleep during this exercise.

With these steps you should find it fairly easy to glide into your daily meditation. There are so many good reasons to be meditating. Meditation can assist with blood flow and oxygen consumption, chronic diseases like allergies, reduce pre-menstrual syndrome, help to build your self-confidence and most of all lead to a deeper level of relaxation improving your overall condition. Take a moment, breathe and allow yourself the time to be conscious in your present self.

Soul Freedom Exercise – Grounding : grounding meditation

Soul Freedom Exercise – Grounding : grounding meditation

GROUNDING

Grounding is a simple yet powerful energy connection exercise. Through it you connect your individual energy flow to the energy flow of Mother Earth. As you tap into this great force of life, you will become calm and revitalized.

Time for Exercise:
10 minutes

Properties Required: none

Steps:

Sit comfortably with eyes closed, back straight but not rigid, shoulders relaxed, arms at your sides, feet flat on the floor.

Take several slow deep breaths through your nose.

Focus all your attention on your genitals from your tailbone to your pubic bone (your root chakra).

Gradually allow an image to form that extends from your genitals to the earth. This can be any image you like, for example, an extension of your flesh, a stream of light, a hollow tube, a tree trunk or roots.

When you have your image formed, picture it reaching from your genitals (your root chakra) all the way down into the very center of the earth. Your connecting image passes through your chair, through the floor, through the ground, through the bedrock, and all the way to the molten core at the heart of Mother Earth.

Now, allow any negative energies, any overwhelming sensations you might be experiencing (worry, pain, sadness, hyperactivity, lethargy, anger, and so on), to flow down through your body, through your connecting bridge, and into the earth’s core.

Imagine these negative energies reaching the center of the earth and being consumed and transformed in a fiery blast. They flow back up to you as Mother Earth energy—calm, strong, full of life.

Continue to send overwhelming sensations down to Mother Earth and allow her vitality and serenity to flow up to you through your connecting image. Experience the peacefulness and vigor of grounding.

Comments:

As you are grounding, you might notice particular sensations: heat, tingling, color, sound, light. The importance of this exercise lies in consciously releasing negative energies and absorbing positive ones. If you make this practice a regular habit, you will notice a considerable decrease in your stress level.

Benefit of Grounding / Barefoot : grounding meditation

The benefit of Grounding / Barefoot are amazing also? Grounding is a great tool that can dramatically increase your meditation powers and recenter your spirit and emotions. The idea is to push your extra energy into the ground and leave it there or draw energy from the ground to feel more powerful. One amazing benefit of Grounding / Barefoot also leaves you centered and focused for the rest of the day and is very beneficial in many other ways. Grounding is the way to connect to the Earth and channel any extra nervous energy away. If you do not have the time to meditate, there are other ways to connect to the Earth. For example you could walk barefoot or sit on the ground – any contact with the Earth can connect you and leave you in a much better state of mind.

The health benefits are enormous, as are the spiritual benefits, even if you “don’t have a religion.” When you are grounded, you have sent all of your nervous energy away (like the negative energy you picked up from media or cell phones). Your focus can become utterly clear and you can concentrate on any physical part of your anatomy to regulate how it works. You can cause your blood pressure to drops, your pulse to regulate and your neural patterns to remain calm because there is no extra adrenaline to pump through you.

Another Benefit of Grounding is that your lungs will fill more completely with deeper breaths and as a result you will get more oxygen to your brain. If you are relaxed and your blood pressure is contained, your whole body will relax and the rest of your life will fall into place. In addition, since meditation requires you to sit up with your back straight to achieve the full effect of it’s healing properties, grounding while standing still can help.

Any contact with the Earth is welcome, so if you’d like to walk barefoot instead of sitting on the hard Earth, you still get residual health benefits. Walking barefoot is good for weak foot arches, especially along different terrains. Not only can you be as calm as possible with grounding, but your body can begin to shape up with this activity as well.

The spiritual benefit of Grounding / Barefoot are amazing also. Using this particular activity keeps us healthy spiritually, which leads to higher selfsteam and a higher self worth. Grounding your energy is mandatory when you are about to perform heavy meditative procedures, because you cannot find your center if you are pumped full of the days thoughts and worries. In chakra exercises, it is best if you ground first and then begin to open up your chakras instead of trying to open them immediately upon entering a meditative state. For people who perform rituals or deal with Earth magic, grounding is viewed as two-way – you can push and pull as much energy as you need from the Earth, and therefore, focus completely on your task. The main idea of grounding is focus – whether you are using it for religious or health conscious purposes. Everyone understands that if you are spiritually healthy, the body will follow.

So let’s do it, then. Let’s go sit on the grassy knoll. Let’s take our shoes off and take a walk in the forest and let the Earth do it’s part in our health and well being by taking care of ourselves and bundling all of our nervous clips and stumbles into the ground. You and everyone around you will benefit from doing this activity, so why not try it?
